REVIEWS

An acoustic or an electric piano

When choosing a piano, it is important to consider the following basic qualities:

Sensitive touch: the ability to make sounds from the range of loud to soft.

88 weighted keys: No limitations on what music someone can play. Build up finger strength and enhance your playing technique.

Sustain/damper Pedal: Greatly enriches the piano’s tone.

Trusted brand: Brands that have experience in building durable and quality pianos.

Here are some of our top recommendations:

  • YAMAHA P45 88-Key Weighted Digital Piano
  • YAMAHA P125 88-Key Weighted Action Digital Piano
  • YAMAHA CLP 745
  • ESSEX STEINWAY & SONS UPRIGHT PIANOS

A laptop, tablet or cell phone (with one or two cameras)

cam

It’s easy to set up your piano lesson using your  laptop, tablet or cell phone.

We recommend using a laptop or a tablet. The wider screen is helpful for viewing the teacher’s demonstrations and musical notations.

Make sure your device is fully charged prior to starting lessons. The ideal camera position is from the side, above the level of the keys, and slightly to the back to show your profile, arms, hands, and keyboard.

Reliable Internet Connection

A reliable internet connection is key for a successful piano lesson.

In order to check your internet speed, simply go to speedtest.net and click the “go” button. The website runs the test and shows you the results.

The recommended minimum speed is 10Mbps down, 5Mbps up.
